THE DEPARTMENT OF SPORT, ARTS AND CULTURE WARNS AGAINST A
FRAUDULENT GROUP WHO GO BY THE NAME: THE CAMPAIGN ZA.
It has been brought to the
attention of the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture that there is a group of
individuals who call themselves “The Campaign ZA”, who are using fraudulent
means to attain personal information from artists.
The group have circulated
messages via WatsApp and other platforms, with false claims that “Government
has agreed to pay all creatives a stipend for 3-6 months during this lockdown
period” and they are calling on creatives to email, amongst other things, their
ID numbers and banking details to the following address: thecampaignza@gmail.com.
Please be aware that this is a
scam.
Fraud is a punishable offense by
law and the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture would like to issue a stern
warning to individuals or groups who spread false information to deliberately
mislead people.
