The State of Disaster and the national lockdown
declared by President Cyril Ramaphosa, means that as a public entity, we need
to do all that we can to combat the spread of Covid-19 while also endeavoring
to ensure that operations continue under somewhat difficult circumstances. With
the lockdown still in effect, the KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission has revised the
funding schedule in the financial year 2020/21. The revised schedule for
funding will be as follows:
Cycle One:
Opens – 18 May 2020
Closes – 30 June 2020
In a bid to ensure that filmmakers are still able to
access the Film Fund during the lockdown, applications can now be emailed to KZNFilmFund@kwazulunatalfilm.co.za
This will allow applicants to apply with the most minimum amount of movement
and interaction with others.
Applicants are requested to visit our website on
www.kwazulunatalfilm.co.za and download the recent application forms to ensure
that all the required documents are submitted.
*Only KZN applicants can access development
funding.
Applicants for Made for TV (micro-budget) movies
need not apply according to these dates. A special call is announced for this
category of funding annually.
The turnaround time for an application for funding
is 3 months from the closing date of the call, this is to afford the
internal team and external evaluator’s ample time to review and evaluate projects.
For enquiries email KZNFilmFund@kwazulunatalfilm.co.za
and refer to the Funding Overview for more information.
*All directions in respect of health protocols
must be adhered to as per regulation 16(6).
