Some information about the festival:
For this first pan-African
edition, the Mobile Film Festival returns with the rules that made its
success: 1 Mobile, 1 Minute, 1 Film. There is one specific rule: participants
must live on the African continent. The theme will be open.
Our support for the winners will
be concrete and operational, as the Mobile Film Festival will award €18,500
in production grants:
·
Africa Grand Prize: €10,000
·
French-speaking Film Award: €2,500
awarded by TV5 Monde
·
Original Music Score Award: €2,500
awarded by SACEM
·
Documentary Film Award: €2,000 awarded by
Yebo!
·
African Female Director Award: €1,500
awarded by Tazama Festival
These grants will allow the
winning directors to produce - in one year – a short film with professional means and the help
of a producer. The Festival is not only an opportunity for the African
directors but also for the African producers, who will be able to manage those
grants and support the winning filmmakers with new financial opportunities.
Other prizes will be awarded by
the Jury, such as Actress Award and Actor Award. The audience will also be
invited to give its Award.
The Mobile Film Festival Africa
is an African project that falls within the cinema and video development in
Africa. The jury will be composed of personalities from the cinema
& arts universe in Africa.
In a desire to make the Festival
as inclusive as possible, films can be submitted in any language. In fact, thanks to
our partner DotSub, those films will be subtitled in French and
English, to reach the largest possible audience in the African continent
and internationally.
One of the characteristics of the
Mobile Film Festival is that it is 100% digital. Through social
networks, our website, those of our partners, and thanks to smartphones,
we reach a huge audience.
You can now find a selection
of African films,
selected and awarded during the latest editions of the Mobile Film Festival.
This project has become possible
thanks to the support of our partners. First of all, the Agence
Française du Développement supports our Festival. Also, the Institut
Français has chosen to include the MFF Africa in its Africa 2020
program, to offer
more visibility to the films.
Major media support us too, such as TV5 Monde, RFI, France 24,
Voxafrica, TRACE, Mobile Journalism Africa... Then, four partners
have desired to award winning directors with production grants and we
would like to thank them warmly: TV5
Monde, SACEM, Yebo! and the Festival Tazama.
