APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN FOR COVID-19 FILM & TV RELIEF FUND

for a R15 000 one-time benefit are now available --

Starting today, members of South Africa’s creative community will be able to
apply for the COVID-19 Film and Television Relief Fund that has been set up
with a R 8, 3 million donation by Netflix in collaboration with the South
Africa Screen Federation (SASFED)
and supported by the Independent
Producers Organisation (IPO). The fund application window will remain open for
two weeks (applications will close on Sunday, 16 August 2020).
The fund, that will be
administered by Tshikululu Social Investment, aims at providing emergency
relief to below-the-line workers who work in the film and television industry. This would include
skilled workers from Assistant Directors to Camera, Lighting, Grips, Sound and
Art Departments, all the way through to artisans such as electricians,
carpenters, drivers and many other freelancers like hair and make-up artists,
costume designers and others who are paid hourly/daily wages and/or work on a
project-to-project basis (see a full list on the Tshikululu website). These
workers will be eligible to apply for the R15 000 one-time benefit. The full eligibility criteria for the fund is

Application forms are available to be
completed and submitted on the website with supporting documents.
Alternatively, applicants can download the application form and send it via
mail to: Private Bag X125, Braamfontein, 2017. Applicants can also courier the
documents to: 8 Hillside Road, Parktown, Johannesburg, 2193.
Tshikululu will screen all applications
while a selection committee composed of industry role players will evaluate applicants and determine
the recipients. Applicants will be notified of the status of their
applications.
